SCOPE

AI is reshaping the cybersecurity landscape, empowering attackers and defenders alike. At the same time, regulators are implementing an evolving legal framework governing its development and deployment. This framework encompasses data protection law, the EU AI Act, cybersecurity regulation and criminal law provisions. However, technical research and legal frameworks often proceed separately: legal frameworks may be developed without sufficient consideration of the underlying technological complexities, while technological solutions may be designed without adequately accounting for the legal constraints. PALS aims to bridge this gap by bringing together researchers from computer science and law to address privacy, AI, and security as interdependent dimensions of the same challenge. The workshop welcomes interdisciplinary contributions, especially those co-authored by technical and legal researchers.

TOPICS OF INTEREST

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
  • Detection of disinformation, hate speech and toxic content
  • Content moderation and freedom of expression
  • Legal responsibility for AI-generated content
  • Explainable AI for cybersecurity and legal transparency requirements
  • Regulatory sandboxes as tools for developing trustworthy AI
  • GDPR compliance of AI systems and LLMs
  • Mobile security and privacy compliance
  • Mobile security and users' rights
  • Legal and privacy implications of mobile security
  • Protection of minors and age assurance online
  • Reliability and admissibility of digital evidence in criminal proceedings
  • AI in criminal investigations and judicial proceedings
